World Vision is working around the clock to pre-position supplies of food, clean water and hygiene kits as Iraq's military offensive to re-take Mosul from ISIL could forcibly displace up to a million people. 

Canadians across the country are celebrating World Food Day, October 16, by hosting a #HungerFree Meaningful Meal. They will bring friends together around their table, or share a meal at their favourite restaurant, and use their grocery or restaurant bill as a donation guide.

More than a million people in Haiti have been affected by Hurricane Matthew and are in dire need of life saving supplies, particularly clean water, according to World Vision, Canada’s largest international aid agency. 

Hurricane Matthew made landfall in Haiti today with damaging sustaining winds of up to 230kph coupled with torrential rainfall. The extent of damage is still being assessed as Haitians brace for massive flooding and landslides that could put their lives, homes, neighbourhoods and livelihoods at risk.

At the Summit for Refugees and Migrants in New York, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau pledged to increase humanitarian assistance for 2016-2017 by at least 10% over the 2015-2016 total of $684 million.

World Vision Canada welcomes today's announcement by the Government of Canada to $430m over three years to UN peace operations and commit up to 600 military and up to 150 police personnel.

On Saturday July 17, development agency World Vision hosted a BBQ in Saskatoon to celebrate the difference the people of Saskatchewan are making across the globe. The free event was manned by volunteers, and was a chance to highlight the generosity of people of Saskatchewan, many of whom advocate for and help some of the world’s most vulnerable children. 

A new poll released today reveals that Ontarians feel conflicted about child labour and how they may be fueling the tragedy.  Commissioned by World Vision a few weeks after the Bangladesh factory disaster, the Ipsos Reid survey found that 73 per cent of Ontarians think it’s easy to turn a blind eye to child labour in developing countries.

After intense fighting followed by a fragile ceasefire in Juba, South Sudan, World Vision is mobilizing its emergency response to provide lifesaving assistance to thousands of newly displaced people.

On July 9, South Sudan will celebrate the 5th anniversary of its independence. But the world's newest country continues to experience urgent humanitarian challenges that require greater support from Canada and the international community, according to World Vision.

A team of four cyclists from Wheels for Wells will leave this morning to cycle to Calgary to raise funds and awareness for World Vision's clean water projects.
