The Improving Inclusive Education for Adolescent Girls in Mali (IMAGINE) Project was a 51-month project funded by Global Affairs Canada and implemented by Plan International Canada in partnership with World Vision Canada and Save the Children Canada. Since 2012, Mali has experienced multiple security crises. In the education sector the continuity of educational provision and interventions has been severely disrupted. The regions of Ségou and Mopti have borne the brunt of recurrent insecurity for more than a decade, with teachers and learners forsaking schools and certain institutions becoming non-operational. This is a summary of the research conducted into evaluating the enabling and impeding factors that affect teachers’ professional development and learning programs in response to the security crisis in the national education system, and the strategies implemented by the Ministry of Education in Mali to strengthen the competence of teachers in providing quality education in areas afflicted by conflict.
