The Improving Inclusive Education for Adolescent Girls in Mali (IMAGINE) Project was a 51-month project funded by Global Affairs Canada and implemented by Plan International Canada in partnership with World Vision Canada and Save the Children Canada. Since 2012, Mali has been rocked by unprecedented security crises. In the education sector the continuity of educational provision and interventions has been severely disrupted. The regions of Ségou and Mopti have borne the brunt of the recurrent insecurity for more than a decade, seeing teachers and learners forsaking schools and leaving certain institutions to become non-operational. This research strives to understand and evaluate the enabling and impeding factors that affect how well teachers’ professional development and learning programs can be aligned with the exigencies of the security crisis in the national education system. The study also aims to understand the strategies implemented by the Ministry of Education in Mali to strengthen the competence of teachers in providing quality education in areas afflicted by conflict.
