Why host the Matthew 25 Challenge?

The Matthew 25 Challenge gives your church family a shared way to explore Scripture, deepen compassion and put faith into action.

Together, congregants reflect, pray and discuss what following Jesus means in a world where many children and families face poverty and injustice.

Make the realities of poverty more tangible

Each day, participants receive a text message with a practical challenge, a story from a child, reflection prompts and prayer points.

These shared experiences do not replicate poverty. They invite congregants to step beyond familiar routines, consider the realities others face and reflect more deeply on Jesus’ call to love and serve.

Faith that responds

“Whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.” - Matthew 25:40

Matthew 25 reminds us that our response to hunger, thirst and vulnerability is closely connected to our relationship with Jesus.

Through Scripture, prayer and practical action, your congregation can explore how Christ calls each of us to see, love and respond to our neighbours.

One week. One shared journey.

1. Choose your week

Connect with an advisor to select a week that fits your church calendar, receive promotional materials, and introduce the experience to your congregation.

2. Invite your church

Encourage individuals and families to sign up and receive the daily challenge by text message.

3. Reflect and respond

Participants engage with daily stories, sacrificial challenges, prayer points and reflection prompts.

4. Gather together

After the challenge, create space for your church to pray, share what it learned and consider how to put faith into action.

From reflection to shared action

The challenge can stand alone as a discipleship experience—or prepare your congregation to rally around a shared act of generosity.

Your church’s next step could support its Chosen community, the Global 6K for Water, emergency response or another World Vision Canada partnership opportunity.

Don't take our word for it

Watch testimonies from pastors whose churches have been transformed by World Vision's Matthew 25 Challenge experience.

Take your church beyond reflection

Invite your congregation into a shared week of Scripture, prayer and practical action. Together, explore what it means to see, love and respond as followers of Jesus.
