Water Works

Water Works News

World Vision supporters help to provide clean water, improve sanitation and hygiene and bring real change.

Since 2010, World Vision has provided more than 3.5 million children with access to clean water, safe and accessible toilets, water treatment kits, hand washing facilities, and hygiene education, so they can keep healthy and remain in school.

Water is something we rely on every day – almost every hour of every day. But for 663 million people who don’t have access to clean water and sanitation, water becomes the key to life. Access to clean drinking water can help children and families become safer, stronger and smarter.

Your impact at a glance

  • 6,983 people have safe water for drinking and cooking thanks to new and repaired water sources
  • 400 young people learned about the importance of water safety, proper sanitation and hygiene to stay healthy
  • 237 people learned about child rights and protection issues to help ensure children's safety and participation
  • 3,359 fruit trees were distributed, providing nutritious food, new source of income and keeping the environment prosperous

Results of World Vision Canada’s projects funded by the Water Pledge during FY18 (October 2017 to September 2018).

Reaching further, together

I want to thank you for helping to provide clean water and sanitation programs for children and families around the world.

Your gift offers the opportunity to transform the lives of vulnerable children, and with it we were able to accomplish great things. In Mali and Burundi, we installed new water points, trained technicians to handle future repairs, and developed committees to improve hygiene and sanitation practices within communities.

For families, access to a sustainable supply of clean water means fewer waterborne illnesses, and the ability to avoid long daily walks to water sources.

Along with these successes, we continue working with local leaders around the globe to find long-term solutions to poverty and injustice, focusing on the world’s most vulnerable children. You are a vital part of our mission, and we want you to know how incredibly thankful we are that you stand with us.
