Coronavirus (COVID-19) impact on World Vision operations

In support of public health recommendations outlined by the World Health Organization, some sponsorship program activities have been temporarily suspended due to COVID-19. Activities may include sponsor queries and correspondence, sponsor visits, gift notifications and gift deliveries. These temporary suspensions may affect the information you receive from us in the coming weeks and months. Learn more about our response to COVID-19.

Thanks to the generous support of donors, we’re making great progress toward the well-being of children and their families. These are a few of the areas we focused on in the past year:

  • 6,372 people learned about child rights and protection issues, helping ensure children's safety and participation.
  • 6,280 children and youth learned about their rights, how to voice their opinions, and ways to protect themselves from harm.
  • 2 clubs are in place for children and youth to improve their learning through tutoring and extracurricular activities.
  • 6,280 children and youth were trained in essential life skills such as critical thinking, self-esteem and communication.
Important Information About Our Work in Tyre, Lebanon

To deepen our commitment to the most vulnerable children in Lebanon, we are changing how we work in this region. After thoughtful assessment, we recognize the urgent need to direct resources to the children and families of the Akkar community. With such close proximity to the Syrian border, Akkar is one of the most needy and poorest areas in the country. Given the circumstances, weve made the decision to shift our support from Tyre to Akkar in order to have the greatest impact on the lives of the children and families struggling in this part of Lebanon. While our focus will be directed elsewhere, the children and families in Tyre will continue to benefit from projects you have supported.

We acknowledge the hard work, meaningful relationships and transformative progress made in Tyre. We believe our work in Akkar will have an overall larger impact on the health and well-being of this country's next generation.

Your continued support strengthens our hope of seeing poverty alleviated and the dreams of children in Lebanon made real.
