What difference does my donation make?
In a world where millions of girls, boys, women and men are trapped in the cycle of conflict and poverty, it’s easy to wonder if one person’s support can truly make a difference. At World Vision, we can testify that every small act of generosity—every monthly gift—joins a collective movement towards change in the face of global injustice.
More than 614 million women and girls live in conflict-affected areas, where women are 7.7 times more likely to live in extreme poverty. Meanwhile, about 47.2 million children had been displaced due to conflict and violence.
These numbers are staggering, and they lead to an important question: Can a small monthly donation make a difference in addressing global poverty and injustice when the need is so overwhelming? The answer is yes.
Every contribution, no matter the size, plays a role in creating positive change. When combined and over time, these donations support communities, power disaster response efforts and ultimately transform lives.
Despite the daunting statistics, Canadians are choosing to boldly hope for a better future. With characteristic optimism and tenacity, they—like you—are building a better future for children and families worldwide.

Canadians are choosing hope where many have given up
World Vision provides food, healthcare, education and more to those who need it most. Consistent support through monthly giving—however small—is a crucial engine for this work.
“Sustained financial support enables us to maintain and expand our programs, reaching more countries, more children, and more communities in need,” explains Alana Mascoll, Head of Fragile and Humanitarian Affairs at World Vision Canada. “By continuing what we have started, we can build a world where every child has access to food, education, and safety. You are choosing to hope in places where many have given up.”
Our global programs help women start businesses and gain financial independence, provide farmers with climate-resistant tools and training, and protect children from violence. Canadian contributions are also helping children access education, clean water, and proper nutrition. Each year we witness the incredible effect of these efforts.
Did you know? Forty-one children’s lives are saved every week through World Vision Canada's malnutrition programs.
“Thirty dollars a month may seem like a drop in the bucket,” says Alana. “but But when you see a child receiving therapeutic food—something they need to survive—you realize just how far that donation can go. In some cases, it is literally saving lives.”
