What will your Legacy be?

At some point in our lives, many of us begin to reflect on what we’ll leave behind. Many of our World Vision supporters have pondered this same question.

For loyal World Vision donor Diane from St. Thomas, Ontario, generosity has been a lifelong value. Her decision to leave a legacy gift with World Vision is guided by her belief that being generous “will help you to learn, love, be healthy, and in turn help others in the future.”

Getting started with your Legacy

Leaving a legacy gift is simpler than you think. It's a way to make sure the causes and values you care about are included in your Will and Estate plans. Explore these tips to help you get started:

  • Start with what matters to you: the values and causes you want to champion.

What long-term impact can look like: Ethiopia

50 years of partnership

World Vision Canada has partnered with Ethiopia for more than 50 years, helping communities grow stronger. This partnership helped save millions of lives during the devastating famines of the 1980s.

Today, World Vision is delivering change through over 100 long-term programs across Ethiopia that help deliver clean water, education, livelihood training, emergency support and more.

Through World Vision Canada’s partnership in Ethiopia, Canadian supporters have helped reach over 4.3 million people in the last ten years. This commitment continues through local programs like those supporting Chaltu, a young mother in rural Ethiopia and her toddler son, Naiman.

How support changes lives: Chaltu and Naiman

Chaltu and Naiman can tell you the difference that support has made to them.

“I wasn’t sure how to feed my son correctly. We would eat the same thing every day because I thought it was enough,” Chaltu explained.

Chaltu and Naiman were invited to attend a World Vision-led nutrition program conducted by Liyu, a dedicated community health professional. At the program, Chaltu learned how to make nutritious meals with things she already had at home.

With support from the program and his mother, Naiman’s life changed. With the right nourishment, his strength returned, his weight improved, and he’s now full of joy and energy to play, learn, and grow.

“Thanks to World Vision and Liyu, my son has a future again,” Chaltu shares. Eager to share what she has learned, Chaltu has become an advocate for healthy eating; helping young mothers within her community.

World Vision’s goal is that by 2030, 15 million children in Ethiopia will be more resilient, nourished, safe, and educated. Our vision is for children to experience hope for a better future, the joy of childhood, and peace in their communities.

This kind of long-term change is made possible through supporters like you who want to make a lasting difference in children's lives.
