"The children I sponsor are as important to my daily life as water and food. Sponsoring the children I have, over the past 40 (maybe more) years is an essential part of my life."
- Harry LaForme
"It's huge what people's support is doing. And I'm not entirely sure if everybody who is sponsoring kids understands that."
- Milena (former sponsored child)
"Just our little contribution of a dinner or a few cups of coffees we save a month and all of a sudden it results in helping a kid and empowering a leader."
- Steph & Neil

Most Frequently Asked
In short: monthly gifts are invested at the community level to create lasting change where children live and learn, with public reporting on how funds are allocated. Your $49/month is combined with other sponsors’ gifts for your sponsored child’s community, not handed directly to one family. Pooled funds back long-term, community-based solutions that help your sponsored child and their peers, things like education resources, safe water, health and child-protection programs.
Sponsorship is often long-term (10–12 years) in a community. It may end earlier if the community “graduates,” your child’s family moves, or the child reaches independence. If that happens, World Vision will notify you and match you with another child.
Your support contributes to measurable outcomes. Recent examples include 192,132 children attending in-school or after-school literacy activities (a 28% increase year over year) and 379,033 children receiving school supplies. Other impact snapshots: 726,491 reading materials distributed, 168,028 children joined literacy activities, 3,167 teachers trained, and 75,667 children received school supplies.
When I Grow Up is World Vision Canada’s storytelling-led campaign that highlights children’s dreams and the measurable ways sponsorship helps them move closer to who they want to be. By centring children’s voices and pairing powerful visuals with outcomes in education and clean water, the campaign invites Canadians into a purposeful partnership, transforming the act of giving into walking alongside a child and their community.
World Vision works with local partners, including communities, schools and faith-based organizations, so impact is rooted where children live and learn.
