Daily life in the Sudan crisis

The Sudan crisis is one of the world’s largest humanitarian emergencies.

Since the Sudan conflict began in April 2023, over 12 million people have been displaced, including more than 4 million children

In Sudan, food is scarce. Water is unsafe. Education is denied. Poverty is growing. Healthcare is inaccessible.

But you can make a difference.

Your donation helps deliver life-saving food to families and children who are surviving today. All while dreaming of a better, safer and more peaceful tomorrow.

The difference so far

World Vision Canada has been able to provide life-saving food and support for vulnerable families and children. Thanks to the donations from the World Food Programme, your gift multiplies up to 7X in value to help provide food to vulnerable children and families.

Since April 2023, Canadians’ donations big and small have made a difference:

610,381

people provided with food assistance

331,590

people given access to safe water

658,940

people connected with health services

27,664

children entered in child protection programs

The difference you can make

The Sudan crisis may be happening at a distance. But your donation will reach the communities, families and children in Sudan who need it most.

That’s because when you donate to World Vision Canada, whether it’s for the Sudan crisis or anything else:

Where your donation goes

  • 85 per cent of all funds goes towards supporting field programs and advocacy initiatives both in Sudan (or whichever country you choose to donate to) and in Canada.

  • 10 per cent of all funds is used to raise awareness and create resources to reach other generous donors like you.
  • 5 per cent of all funds is used on support and accountability to ensure effective, transparent use of donations.

Canada’s top charity

World Vision Canada has a 4-star rating with Charity Navigator and an A+ rating with Charity Intelligence. That means you can donate with confidence.

The impact of your donation will be felt. It supports ongoing programs and can be deployed immediately if the conflict in Sudan escalates.

Yes, we exist to make a lasting difference in the most efficient and effective way possible in the lives of the world’s most vulnerable girls and boys. We account for every dollar donated and focus on creating sustainable change for those we serve.Of the funds given to World Vision over the past five years, 85 per cent went directly to programs that help children and families in the communities where we work, 10 per cent went to help raise more resources, and 5 per cent was allocated to vital support and accountability. Our external auditor, KPMG, conducts regular audits to verify the accuracy of our financial reporting. We also want you to feel confident in how World Vision uses your donations to make the biggest difference in the lives of vulnerable children around the world. Your donation helps your sponsored child and community. To ensure sponsorship makes the biggest difference in the lives of children and communities, each country receives a variable level of support based on evolving needs and the local cost of living. If needed, up to five per cent of sponsorship donations may be used to help children in areas without sponsorship programs. This means your generosity extends further.
