On June 24, 2026, two powerful earthquakes struck north-central Venezuela near Caracas. The earthquakes occurred within seconds of each other and triggered widespread shaking across the country.

According to the latest official update released by the Government of Venezuela on July 16, the emergency has resulted in 4,930 deaths, 16,740 injuries, and 17,907 people left homeless due to the damage caused by the earthquakes. 

Families affected by the earthquakes urgently need:

• Emergency shelter
• Safe drinking water
• Food assistance
• Medical care
• Hygiene supplies
• Child protection and psychosocial support
• Temporary learning spaces for children

As emergency operations continue, needs are expected to evolve from immediate relief to longer-term recovery.

As a proud member of the Humanitarian Coalition, World Vision has joined a coordinated emergency appeal to help provide life-saving assistance to children and families affected by the earthquakes. 

Through a multisectoral response, risks have been mitigated and priority needs addressed in affected communities, directly reaching 2,696 people. Since the onset of the emergency, interventions have benefited a total of 49,215 people across La Guaira, Caracas, and Miranda. The response includes: 

• 33,440 people reached through food security interventions, supporting 4,052 households.
• 15,640 people supported through Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) interventions, benefiting 3,270 households.
• 19,157 child-focused services delivered, representing 10,496 children directly supported.
• 1,371 people, primarily children and adolescents, reached through child protection activities, psychosocial support, and safe spaces.
• 885 people provided with temporary shelter assistance, corresponding to 177 households.

Although search and rescue operations have transitioned into the recovery phase, significant humanitarian needs remain, particularly in access to food, safe water, temporary shelter, child protection, and emotional recovery. Your donation can become the first step toward rebuilding a community.
