Ebola Outbreak Response

Children at risk of Ebola in the Democratic Republic of Congo need your help.

Children at severe risk across Southern Africa

World Vision is deeply concerned by the Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of Congo and the growing risks facing vulnerable children and families.

Communities are facing fear, loss, disrupted healthcare, and limited access to essential support. Children are especially at risk as families struggle to stay safe and access urgent medical care. Your support today helps provide lifesaving healthcare, protection, hygiene supplies, and emergency assistance to children and families impacted by the outbreak.

5 things you need to know about the Ebola outbreak in the DRC

  1. A rare strain without a vaccine: The outbreak is caused by the Bundibugyo strain, which currently has no vaccine or targeted treatment. Because of this, early detection and community prevention are our absolute best lines of defense.
  2. Over 900,000 displaced people at risk: The crisis is unfolding in conflict zones where families are already displaced. Overcrowded camps with limited clean water make children and vulnerable families incredibly susceptible to the spread.
  3. Relying on trusted local voices: Learning from the 2018 crisis, we know prevention works best through community trust. World Vision is training local faith leaders and motorbike riders to safely deliver lifesaving health information to remote areas.
  4. Activating a $10M Emergency Response: World Vision has declared a Category 3 National Office response, our highest internal emergency level. We are mobilizing $10 million over six months to scale up clean water, hygiene supplies, and case tracking.
  5. You can partner with us to stop the spread: Local health workers are fighting this virus with immense courage, but they need resources. World Vision has launched an emergency appeal to rush hygiene kits, protection services, and medical support to the frontlines.
