In this August 2024 video, Rodrigue Harakandi, a World Vision communications officer, explains the life-saving difference made by the implementation of a water system in the village of Ishasha.
With the support of donors, World Vision’s Childhood Rescue program launched a drinking water supply project to respond to the village’s urgent need for water.
Nestled on the border between the DRC’s Virunga National Park (DRC) and Uganda, Ishasha had long been overlooked by potential partners, as the provision of quality water required considerable financial resources. Marked by conflict and rebel occupation, the region has seen many humanitarian organizations pass through without being able to provide a lasting solution.
Thanks to the collaboration between community volunteers, World Vision and qualified engineers, more than 1,300 people now have access to this vital resource for basic health.
