Sponsor a girl: help us sponsor 1,000 girls by March 31

Help us help 1,000 girls reach their potential via access to education, opportunity and equality.

Today. Right now. In 2026:

  • 119 million girls worldwide are out of school and denied the chance to read, grow, dream and lead.
  • 12 million girls worldwide are married as children and robbed of their education, childhood and future potential.

Access to education is a fundamental right. Yet nearly one and three girls are denied education.

Surrounded by poverty, conflict and gender inequality in education, girls are kept out of school, subject to abuse or forced into child labour or child marriage.

It does not have to stay this way. Through child sponsorship in Canada, you can sponsor a girl and help her access education and opportunity.

It starts with sponsoring and supporting girls’ education

Hands Up in a Busy Classroom

Students in a classroom sit at wooden desks, with a girl in a white headscarf raising her hand while others participate.

Education happens in the classroom and is applicable everywhere. It’s a gateway to opportunity, dignity and gender equality. When girls are educated:

  • Their earning potential increases dramatically. Each year of schooling can boost income by around 20 per cent.
  • Families and communities become healthier and more resilient.
  • Barriers like child marriage, exploitation and poverty begin to come down and are replaced with fairness, equality and independence.

A new generation of leaders and changemakers emerge. They inspire the next generation, who inspire the next generation…and so on.

It’s important to realize that inaccessibility to education is more than just not having a school to go to or books to read. It can also mean:

  • Lacking safe transportation to and from school.
  • Not having safe or clean sanitation facilities.
  • Not being able to access or use hygiene products when needed.

It adds up and prevents girls from pursuing their dreams through education.

Sponsor a girl and change her story

To sponsor a girl is to give her the quality education she deserves, with access to books, school supplies and uniforms and clothing.

But sponsorship goes beyond that. It provides girls with:

  • C lean water and hygiene solutions to overcome period-related barriers so girls can stay in class.
  • Health and nutrition to fuel the growing mind and body.
  • Economic opportunities for families to reduce financial pressures that keep girls out of school.
  • Protection and advocacy so girls can learn the value of their voices and rights.

The financial results are quantifiable. For every year of education a girl receives, her earning potential rises by 20 per cent.

Then, there are the other benefits.

The knowledge she receives. The confidence she gains. The empowerment to stand up for her rights and help others do the same. The impact she makes on her community.

Numbers can’t fully capture those outcomes because they’re immeasurable. Yet the difference they make and the impact they have are obvious, life-changing and unignorable.

See the difference you can make when you sponsor a girl

Nadeyli in Bolivia supports advocacy and protection for girls. She says: "“I have met several girls too, who grow up insecure, grow up without self-esteem. The truth is that my life has changed a lot. I am very grateful to World Vision beca

Thanks to child sponsorship and supporting girls’ education:

  • Mayra from Ecuador has access to education and chooses to complete her studies before having children.
  • Nadeyli from Bolivia gained self-esteem and is supporting other girls in her community with protection and advocacy.
  • Glory from Tanzania can attend school during menstruation and maintain her academic performance as she achieves her dream.
  • Sarah from Tanzania fought for her education when her parents felt it was better for her to get married so they would receive a dowry.

Sponsoring a girl is the path towards education, opportunity and transformation.

Sponsor a girl: support girls’ education and unlock a better future

Words from an Unseen Sponsor Became a Young Girl’s Inspiration to Grow.jpg

Rungnapa, a young girl who once lacked basic school supplies, received support from a sponsor through World Vision Thailand starting in Grade 4. She was given school uniforms, stationery, student shoes, birthday gifts, and heartfelt letters

Education is a right, not a privilege. When the world invests in girls, it invests in a future where they can read and lead. Innovate and inspire.

The story of supporting girls’ education is not finished. With your help, we can rewrite it. For one girl at a time.

For 1,000 girls.

For all girls.
