On June 24, 2026, two powerful earthquakes struck north-central Venezuela near Caracas. The earthquakes occurred within seconds of each other and triggered widespread shaking across the country. As of July 9, the disaster's death toll has risen to 3,889, with more than 16,500 people injured, 6,462 survivors rescued, and around 18,000 people left homeless.
