Sithabile, 15, is one of Zimbabwe’s 58,353 sponsored children whose life has been transformed through sponsorship.

“I didn’t know we had such people on earth,” says Sithabile’s mother, 54-year-old Gertrude. “[Our sponsor] is part of our family and I wish to meet her someday just to shake her hands and say ‘thank you.’”

Born into poverty, Sithabile’s parents couldn’t afford education past primary school for any of their six children until sponsorship came to Lupane. Not only did the support help cover the cost of Sithabile’s education, pooled funds from Canadian sponsors improved the infrastructure and quality of learning at her school.

“My sponsor has been supportive of my education and related needs,” says Sithabile. “I thank her for the love and kindness she shows.”
