Israel lives and works in Maputo, the capital of Mozambique, but every holiday he returns to Hluvuko, the place that shaped him into the person he is today.

As a sponsored child, Israel always enjoyed school.

“I remember very well that World Vision staff would come to my house to do annual progress reports and they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I told them I wanted to be a teacher,” he recalls.

Israel’s parents were supportive of his education but didn’t have money for university. After Grade 12, World Vision awarded him a scholarship and he completed his degree in geography.

Today Israel is a university teacher. He’s happy with his life, and on visits back to Hluvuko, he inspires younger children to follow their dreams as well.

Help a child realize their full potential. Give the gift of education.
