What is Giving Tuesday?

Giving Tuesday is a global day dedicated to giving back, that takes place after Black Friday and Cyber Monday. On this day, people around the world come together for one common purpose: to celebrate and encourage generosity.

Last year, Giving Tuesday was a huge success thanks to your incredible generosity!

  • More than $540,000 was raised by World Vision Canada
  • Canadians overall gave $36.1 million
  • Beyond money, Giving Tuesday donors also gave selflessly through volunteer work, clothing drives, food banks, blood donation and more

Mark the date! Let's come together and do it again on Tuesday, November 30, 2021.

World Vision Canada partnered with Burnbrae Farms to help give Canadians a chance to double their impact on Giving Tuesday.

For every gift of Hens and Roosters donated from the Gift Catalogue, Burnbrae Farms generously matched your gift, up to $15,000.

These hens and roosters are now providing a source of income to families who sell the eggs at market. What’s more, they’re also providing protein, and vitamin- and nutrient-rich food for growing girls and boys.

Frequently asked questions

In 2020, Burnbrae Farms matched donations up to $15,000 to Hens and Roosters on Giving Tuesday.

In 2020 World Vision Canada partnered for a ninth year with Burnbrae Farms, a sixth-generation Canadian family business that has been producing eggs for 75 years. Margaret Hudson, President of Burnbrae Farms says, "At Burnbrae Farms we go to work every day believing in the value that eggs have for families as a source of nutrition. When you give a gift like Hens and Roosters through the World Vision Gift Catalogue, you're also giving an economic opportunity for farmers in developing countries who can sell these eggs at markets to help support their families. We're excited to see Canadians respond this Giving Tuesday to our offer to match their donations."

When you give livestock gifts like Hens and Roosters, it’s part of a greater community development program. Animals are purchased locally and distributed to families in need, along with feed, training and other support. In addition, World Vision provides families with business guidance and skills that helps build strong communities, giving families a sustainable path to a new life.
