MISSISSAUGA, ON – World Vision Canada announced today that Sumair Mirza has been appointed Chief Operating Officer.

As Chief Operating Officer, Mirza will assume leadership of all business operations including marketing and development, and will enhance the organization’s focus on digital transformation and customer-centric marketing.

Prior to joining the relief and development agency, Mirza served as founder and principal of the digital consulting company, Convergent Labs, and has held senior management positions with GE Capital and Element Financial.

"With two decades’ experience spanning financial services, consulting and product innovation, Sumair brings deep expertise in leading business process and operations and driving marketing transformation,” said Michael Messenger, CEO of World Vision Canada. “Sumair’s appointment will enhance our ability to deliver agile operations and strategy in support of our work with Canadians to create lasting change for children and communities around the world.”

As a past member of World Vision Canada’s governance community, Mirza travelled to Tanzania where he had the opportunity to see World Vision’s development work and meet his sponsored child.

"Seeing World Vision’s work and impact firsthand was compelling and affirming,” said Mirza. “I am thrilled to learn from and lead an incredible team and to help create innovative and meaningful ways for Canadians to help transform the lives of the most vulnerable children in the world."
