Earthquake in Indonesia
An earthquake with a magnitude of 6.4 struck Aceh, Indonesia on December 7, 2016. Dozens of people have been injured and so far more than 90 casualties have been reported.
The earthquake did not strike any communities where World Vision Canada works, so thankfully all children sponsored by Canadians are unharmed.
World Vision staff in Indonesia are assessing the damage and forming a response plan.
“As a child-focused organization, we are also very concerned about ensuring children are protected, no matter the impact of the quake,” says Margarettha Siregar, World Vision Indonesia’s Director of Humanitarian and Emergency Affairs.
