World Vision is grateful for the cash donations we receive from Canadian families. Most supporters are familiar with our Child Sponsorship programs, Gift Catalogue and 30 Hour Famine, but fewer people know that a significant portion of the contributions World Vision receives are donated resources.
World Vision Canada’s Resources-in-Kind program is based on the premise that we can accomplish more in partnership than we can as individuals. That’s why we work collaboratively with companies, foundations and even UN agencies to help communities help themselves. Donated resources are distributed by World Vision staff to support children, families and communities. We work closely with the local government and community-based organizations.
Year after year, communities around the world express needs for resources to enhance their current development initiatives and we focus our attention on meeting those needs.
- A group from Honduras has expressed the needs for books to stock a new community library
- People from Mongolia have expressed needs for winter clothing for Sponsored Children
- A community group from Ghana expressed a need for sports equipment for their soccer program which is used to create awareness of nutrition, health and hygiene issues.
- Communities in Zambia expressed needs for micronutrients to support their mother and child health programs
- Families in Uganda have needs for packages of maize, salt, sugar and oil because of persistent drought in the country
