Powerful Earthquake Strikes Peru—Thousands Need Your Assistance
More than 330 people are dead as a result of a severe earthquake that struck Peru on August 15. The 8.0 magnitude quake was centred about 250 km south of the capital city of Lima. Initial reports from World Vision workers in Peru indicate that more than 1,000 people have been injured in the areas around the quake's epicentre. They are in desperate need of assistance.
Medical supplies and basic survival items, such as plastic sheeting for shelter, blankets, cooking utensils and warm clothing, are the most immediate needs of those living in the area affected by the earthquake.
World Vision is on the ground and already working to get emergency supplies into the affected region.
