Micro-loans transform lives

Prisca, mother of two, weaves a new life for her family Prisca Mavuso‘s husband is physically challenged, unable to work and provide for her and their two children. This leaves Prisca entirely responsible to support her family. But as a weaver and bead artist, her income was erratic and insufficient. Then, in 2003, Prisca learned that she could get a loan to fund her business through World Vision’s Swaziland Micro Finance Enterprise (SMFE) program. Through a series of $250 loans, each repaid in six months, she’s managed to grow a thriving craft business. She can now provide for her family. Prisca gratefully acknowledges the continued advice and support she receives from the SMFE loan officer who’s following her project. She’s begun showing her work at exhibitions, and even received a silver award at a show in South Africa. She plans to open her own art shop someday.
