Hockey For Haiti 

Hockey for Haiti teams up the National Hockey League Players’ Association (NHLPA) with World Vision Canada to help rebuild the Grace Children’s Hospital in Port-au-Prince, Haiti.

Devastated in the January 12 earthquake, Grace Children’s Hospital is one of Haiti’s leading pediatric hospitals for the treatment of children with tuberculosis (TB) and other respiratory diseases.

Hockey for Haiti was started by Haitian-Canadian NHL veteran Georges Laraque. Proceeds will help rebuild the hospital, restoring hope, dignity and good health to the children and families of Haiti.

To encourage fan participation, the NHLPA launched an online auction of 140 Olympic hockey jerseys worn by NHLPA members from 12 countries in the 2010 Olympics, including jerseys from Sidney Crosby, Alex Ovechkin, Jonathan Toews and Nick Lidstrom. About Grace Children’s Hospital
Thousands of children suffering from tuberculosis, HIV and other diseases rely on the care they receive at Grace Children's Hospital. Due to the earthquake, the hospital is now operating from tents in the yard which serve as makeshift outpatient wards. Most inpatients have returned to live with their families until the hospital can accommodate them again. The all-Haitian staff at Grace Children's Hospital remain committed to programs that will help contain the spread of disease — especially drug-resistant disease — which is critical in the wake of the disaster.
