Floods in Pakistan

See the impact Canadian donations are having in Pakistan and how World Vision Canada is helping family's struggling to survive in flood ravaged communities.

More than 1,600 people have been killed by the floods in Pakistan to date. Hundreds more are missing and it is feared that the death toll will rise as continuing rains increase the threat of more flooding and the spread of waterborne diseases such as dysentery, diarrhea and cholera begins.

World Vision is moving swiftly to begin providing food and clean water, medical assistance, shelter, hygiene kits and other basic relief items.

World Vision’s emergency response will target children and families in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (formerly known as the North West Frontier Province), where thousands of mud houses have been washed away, leaving people homeless, living along roadsides, roof tops and seeking refuge on higher ground. The continued heavy rains and flooding have also caused significant losses to livestock and damage to agricultural crops, fields and warehouses for grain storage while increasing the risk of spreading waterborne diseases.

The UN estimates that over 20 million people have been directly impacted by the flooding, including over 3.5 million children in the affected areas. World Vision has worked in Pakistan since 1992, and has more than 150 staff in the country.

Your gift to help those suffering in Pakistan today will be doubled under the Canadian government’s Pakistan Floods Relief Fund. Please give today.
