World Vision Responding to the Earthquake in Chile
World Vision’s response to the areas hardest hit by the February 27th Earthquake has been swift, but your continued support is needed to help families cope as they recover and rebuild.
Immediately following the emergency supplies such as blankets and water containers were distributed from warehouses in Chile. Additional supplies including food, blankets, diapers and other infant items are being brought into Dichato and Lota, located approximately 40 kilometres south of Concepcion to help families coping with the devastation.
World Vision is also preparing to establish child-friendly spaces in Dichato where children can enjoy activities such as music, theater and games in a structured and supervised environment, to help them recover and make sense of the disaster. The first child-friendly space will likely focus on the 300 children under five-years-old in Dichato. Additional centres will focus on activities for older children.
World Vision has worked in Chile for 30 years and have more than 100 staff in the country, many living and working in areas close to the quake epicenter. However, given the magnitude of this disaster, World Vision is preparing to deploy additional staff to support the relief response.
Your help enables World Vision to deliver these supplies quickly in times of need. Your gift is a practical way to let a stricken family know they are not alone.
