Powerful Hurricane Dean Plows Through Caribbean

Packing destructive winds of up to 320 km/h, a ferocious Hurricane Dean has cut through the Caribbean and smashed into Mexico's Yucatan Peninsula. Families affected by the storm are devastated.

As the massive storm moved across the Caribbean, it impacted numerous countries including Haiti, the Dominican Republic, Jamaica and Mexico. High winds, torrential rain and flooding have caused widespread damage to homes, businesses, power lines and roadways throughout the region.

World Vision teams are in the region with emergency supplies such as plastic sheeting for shelter, medical kits, blankets and water-purification kits. These teams are already moving into areas affected by Hurricane Dean.
