Post-Tsunami Aceh: Continuing Our Work

Five years ago, on the morning of December 26th 2004, a massive undersea earthquake measuring 9.15 on the Richter scale triggered a series of tsunamis that charged across the Indian Ocean and slammed into the shores of a dozen countries. It is estimated that around 230,000 people lost their lives. World Vision mounted its largest-ever single relief response across five countries simultaneously—Indonesia, Sri Lanka, Thailand, India and Myanmar.

Though the emergency relief projects are now complete, World Vision continues to partner with communities affected by the tsunami such as the Aceh Province in Indonesia. Children and families living in Aceh suffered greatly being so close to the earthquake's epicentre.  More than 25 per cent of households in the Aceh province lost at least one family member. World Vision is working in four community development projects in the Aceh region to better develop access to essentials such as clean water, health care, improved nutrition and education, but we cannot continue to do this without your help.

Children in the Aceh region still need our help. For a gift of $50, $100 or $150, you can help provide children in Aceh with continued access to vital resources such as clean water, health care, improved nutrition and education. Please give generously today.
