Global 6k for water FAQs

Get all of your questions answered here!

Where is this race located?

Wherever you are! This is a "virtual race" where you get your race kit in the mail and on March 19th you can join thousands around the globe from your own front door or from one of our many host sites!

Why is it a 6K instead of a 5K?

Six kilometers is the average distance a person in the developing world has to walk to find water, and many times that water isn't even safe to drink. We want to help you make that fact personal by covering that same distance so that one person no longer has to.

Why does this race cost $50?

Through World Vision water projects, $50 will provide clean water for one person that lasts. Your $50 registration fee will help provide clean water for one person. That means every 6K for Water participant equals clean water for another person.

Where will my money go?

The money raised through World Vision's 6K for Water will help fund water projects in: Mali, Niger, Ghana, Tanzania, and Somolia.

Can kids participate?

Yes! We want families and children to participate in this event. Children of all ages can register as a participant to run or walk the 6K distance.

When is the last day to register?

You can register all the way up to (and on) race day! If you register after Sunday, March 13th, you will receive a representative, printable race bib via email in addition to your unique bib that will be mailed. We want to make sure you have a bib to wear on race day!

When will I get my shirt & bib?

After January 1st, 2016 we will start shipping your "race kits" that will contain you your t-shirt, your unique race bib, your finisher's medal and welcome packet to the address you provided in your registration form.

What if my shirt doesn't fit?

Shoot us an email at teamworldvision@worldvision.ca and we'll work to set you up with a size that fits!

Is it timed / do I have to turn in my time?

Keeping your time is up to you! We won't be collecting times but you can share photos from your day on social media using #Global6k

What if I don't have a smart phone to track my run?

You can use the web version of Map My Run to map out a run online.
