Dear World Vision Supporter,
I recently returned from Myanmar, where I witnessed first-hand the impact made since the cyclone devastated the lives of 2.5 million people.
With great courage and determination, the Myanmar people are slowly rebuilding their lives. But the need is still immense and your help is vital for thousands of children and their families who have lost everything. Please donate now.
During my visit, I was also impressed to see how the donations we received from thousands of caring Canadians were already hard at work. More than 500 World Vision staff and locals have made their way to villages along riverbanks to provide nearly 300,000 children and families with life-saving food, water, shelter kits, cooking supplies, blankets, tools, and more.
They have helped establish 57 Child-Friendly Spaces, allowing 8,000 children to recover from the trauma of loss and return to a sense of normalcy. And they've brought hope to hurting families, like one couple I met.
As this couple's house crumbled around them during the storm, they grabbed their seven children and raced to a local school for safety. But flooding caused the walls to tumble down, and the family had to literally wedge their way through a crack and form a human chain to escape.
This family miraculously survived. They lost everything and don't know how they are going to put their lives back together.
I do. They'll put their lives back together with their strong resolve and the help of people like you. Please give today and continue to help victims like those I met as they embark on the hard road ahead of them.
Thank you again and God bless,
Dave Toycen
President, World Vision Canada
P.S. As of June 24, an estimated 138,000 are dead or still missing, and 4,000 schools have been damaged or destroyed. Your gifts are still vital. Click here to help.
