And now for an update on our Five for 5 campaign.

Great Step Forward for Our Campaign
Since the Five for 5 campaign kicked off on November 26, more than 1,750 MP letters have been sent, and the Facebook fan page has surpassed 1,000 members.

We have realized a significant success in this campaign. On January 26th, Prime Minister Stephen Harper announced through an article in the Toronto Star that Canada "...will champion a major initiative to improve the health of women and children in the world's poorest regions. Members of the G8 can make a tangible difference... and Canada will be making this a top priority in June."i

This is a great success. World Vision is now interested in seeing how this G8 Summit initiative will result in an increase in funding for child and maternal health programs and that these programs are effective in preventing illness and ensuring treatment for mothers and children in the world's poorest regions.

Send Us Your Thoughts
We're grateful that you sent your opinions to your MPs, but we'd also like to hear and share your unique viewpoints.

Tara shares her reason for fighting for global child health: "As a first-time mom-to-be, I think about health and baby care quite a bit. I've received top-notch prenatal care, but I know that millions of mothers don't have access to a well-equipped clinic to monitor their health and the health of their baby, or essential nutrition and vitamins, or even education about options for a safe delivery and breastfeeding. I was lucky to be born in Canada. But luck should not determine whether an expectant mom or newborn baby lives or dies."

Tell us your reasons for caring and we'll share them with our campaign supporters—on our website, and on Facebook. We'll even try to get the Prime Minister's attention on them before the June summit in Muskoka!
