International aid agency World Vision is thankful to the residents of Saskatchewan for their overwhelming generosity in the fight to end child poverty. Last week marked the end of the Campaign for Children, an opportunity for more people in the province to help children around the world. Over the summer, Saskatchewan citizens sponsored 1,200 children, which will change the lives of these children, their families and communities.
Sponsors are providing access to education, health care, nutritious food, clean water and helping parents find economic opportunities so they can provide for their children.
"It has been an amazing summer connecting with the people of Saskatchewan," says World Vision spokesperson and Saskatchewan resident Jason Moffat. "We knew that residents of the province were generous and they proved us right. Sponsorship will make all the difference for these kids and their future."
Quick Facts:
- There are now more than 15,000 children sponsored by residents of Saskatchewan.
- Through the Campaign for Children, more than 1,200 children were sponsored by people in the province this summer.
- Child Sponsorship makes World Vision's community development programs possible, providing communities with sustainable access to necessities like clean water, nutritious food, economic opportunity, health care and access to education.
