World Vision Canada partners with communities, local governments and other NGOs around the world to improve the well-being of children.
We accomplish this in several ways, depending on the needs of the community. Our main vehicle for development is Area Development Programs (ADPs). Learn more about ADPs
Many of our programs require technical support from highly skilled staff. World Vision Canada has developed technical expertise in specific areas, which results in innovative, quality programs that contribute to measurable impact on the well-being of children.
Our professional staff are experts in the areas of nutrition and health, HIV and AIDS, tuberculosis and livelihoods. Additionally, Disaster Response remains a significant part of World Vision Canada’s work.
Livelihoods
The poor earn their living in many ways. These activities and strategies are called livelihoods. World Vision helps families by strengthening their existing strategies and providing them with new opportunities, especially through microfinance and reliable access to food.

HIV and AIDS, Tuberculosis, and Disability
In response to the HIV and AIDS epidemic, World Vision plays a key role through prevention, care and advocacy programs around the world. Disabled individuals are among the most vulnerable and at risk of HIV and AIDS, exploitation and neglect.
To date, significant progress has been achieved, yet AIDS continues to threaten every aspect of human development. Closely linked with HIV and AIDS, tuberculosis causes more deaths worldwide than any other curable disease. World Vision aims to help eradicate tuberculosis through programs that build on existing relationships within communities.

Nutrition and Health
About 50 per cent of all deaths among children under 5 are primarily caused by malnutrition. Often invisible, malnutrition has serious consequences as it weakens a child’s immune system, making it harder to fight off infections.

Disaster Management and Response
World Vision’s disaster response efforts strive to reduce the impact of emergencies on people’s lives. The efforts are geared toward addressing human needs and vulnerabilities in both natural and human-made crises so that human transformation is possible and, ultimately, sustainable.
