Food Security
What does it mean to be free from the fear of hunger?

Food Security

  • There are over 200 definitions of food security. Despite the volumes of literature on the subject, understanding what is food security can be difficult. The term "food security" often conjures images of strictly guarded food stocks or severely malnourished children. However, food security is a concept that stretches beyond measures of hunger and food availability.
  • A simple definition of food security is when everyone has enough nutritious food to focus upon other needs. Food security exists when individuals are no longer enslaved to hunger - when people are free to enjoy a healthy and active life.
