2009 Youth Ambassadors Announced!
World Vision would like to thank the more than 150 young people from across the country who applied for the 2009 World Vision Youth Ambassador program. The competition was very tight with many strong applications. World Vision is pleased to announce its 2009 Youth Ambassadors:

Jeffrey Tores, North Vancouver, British Columbia
Bio highlights: At the age of 18 Jeff completed the Ironman Triathlon, a gruelling 3.8km swim, 180km bike and 42.2km run and raised over $10,000 for World Vision.
Most looking forward to during trip to Tanzania: “Learning from whatever challenges are in store and growing beyond my current comfort levels, talents and strengths.”

Sarah Jensen, Grand Prairie, Alberta
Bio highlights: As international coordinator for the Grand Prairie Interact Club, Sarah helped to organize and lead the largest student humanitarian rally in Alberta—which consisted of over 4000 students.
Most looking forward to: “Having the opportunity to experience the African culture and see first-hand the struggles they face.”

Breanna Wiebe, Winnipeg, Manitoba
Bio highlights: An active volunteer and leader in her high school, Breanna was honoured with the 2008 Manitoba Teacher's Society Young Humanitarian of the Year Award.
Most looking forward to: “Meeting and learning from those affected by poverty and learning how to better make a true difference in their lives.”

Max Seunik, Mississauga, Ontario
Bio highlights: A black belt in Tae Kwon Do, Max is learning five languages and is also student council president and representative on the Peel Student Presidents' Council Leadership Development team.
Most looking forward to: “Experiencing a paradigm shift, a culture shock and ultimately beginning to understand the harsh reality of poverty.”

Martha Evans-Hannah, Notre Dame d’Ile Perrot, Quebec
Bio highlights: Captain of her school’s football, basketball and volleyball teams, Martha is also very active in her community, having created a youth group at her church and organizing fundraisers.
Most looking forward to: “Seeing what life is like in Tanzania and knowing that it will definitely be an unforgettable experience.”

Anna Fricker, Groves Point, Nova Scotia
Bio highlights: Only in grade 10, Anna has already had a tremendous impact in helping lead a multi-school campaign to raise awareness and funds for child education in developing countries.
Most looking forward to: “Meeting the people of Tanzania; hearing their stories, learning more about the issues they face and their hopes for the future.”
