Question 1
What is the Liberal Party's position on the 2010 budget announcement to freeze the International Assistance Envelope

In the 2010 Budget, the Harper government froze Canada’s Official Development Assistance (ODA), removing Billions of dollars from planned investments. This brought Canada’s steady improvements in support levels to a standstill and has jeopardized long-term program achievement. To restore some of the ground that has been lost under the Conservatives, a Liberal government will un-freeze the ODA budget.

Question 2
What is the Liberal Party's commitment to long term investment in maternal, newborn and child health.

Under a Liberal government, Canadian aid will be guided by an overarching emphasis on the massive untapped potential of women in the developing world. We will increase support to organizations that provide maternal health services to women and children.

The Questions
For the 2011 federal election, World Vision is asking the federal parties to answer two questions.

1. What is your party’s position on the 2010 budget announcement to freeze the International Assistance Envelope?

2. Specifically, what is your party’s commitment to long term investment in maternal, newborn and child health?
