World Vision staff members extend their deepest condolences to the families and colleagues of four International Rescue Committee (IRC) aid workers who were killed on August 13 in an attack in Afghanistan. These colleagues were committed, compassionate professionals who gave their lives serving others.

World Vision has no plans to suspend or end its work in Afghanistan. We remain committed to caring for children and families in need, whether in times of peace or conflict, while taking appropriate measures to ensure the safety of our staff on the ground. World Vision has worked in Afghanistan since 2001, offering food aid along with education, health and agricultural programs in the western region of the country.

We continue to call for increased protection for all humanitarian workers—expatriates and nationals—serving in Afghanistan.
