Haiti 1 year later

On January 12, 2010, one of the poorest countries in the western hemisphere was struck by an earthquake of historic proportions. The emergency response has been unprecedented in scale and complexity, but thanks to generous Canadians, there are encouraging signs that progress is being made.

World Vision provided a number of programs to assist the people of Haiti. The many benefits include transitional shelter, clean water and food, safe spaces for children to play and learn, and cash-for-work opportunities in camps.

More than a million people continue to live in temporary camps for the displaced, and efforts are also being made to provide adequate services and shelter for people who did not leave their original neighbourhoods. There is change and cause for hope, despite the additional challenges of crises such as the outbreak of cholera.

See the impact that World Vision has made for children and families in Haiti through pictures, videos, and stories.
