Thank you for your gift to help provide life-saving relief to survivors of natural disasters in China and Myanmar. Your gift is like a small miracle for survivors who lost their homes, belongings and even loved ones. You’re helping provide them with things like: - Tents and blankets
- Life-saving medicines
- Emergency food
- Access to clean water
- Clothing and school supplies
- Child-Friendly Spaces
- Mosquito nets and more
But perhaps most importantly, you’re providing comfort and care for children like eight-year-old Ei, in Myanmar, who lost her mother in the monstrous storm. After the cyclone passed, Ei remembered nothing. But she acted strangely and ran away often. Then she became very sick. In the hospital, she’d awaken shouting, “Mommy, mommy! Come back to me.” The trauma of her loss was profound. At one of World Vision’s 81 Child-Friendly Spaces, Ei received psychosocial support, and played games with other children. As her memories slowly returned, she began to heal. Today she says, “I love playing, but also reading. I want to be a big teacher.” In China, you’re helping children like eight-year-old Xiao Hua. When World Vision distributed Back-to-School kits to the children of Shaanxi Province, Xiao Hua stood out. She walked and talked very slowly. We were told she’d suffered brain damage when her house collapsed in the quake. But that didn’t stop her from thanking us politely when she received her new school bag full of supplies, or from joyfully telling her friends, “I am very happy.” Thank you for helping give hope to children like Ei and Xiao. With support from friends like you, Xiao and her schoolmates are receiving disaster preparedness training as World Vision plans to rebuild their school. |
