Last year Katie Ward, 7, of Langley, B.C., raised money with her music class to purchase items from World Vision’s Gift Catalogue, including a goat.
Why do you think a goat is a good gift?
"Because the people who get the goat will have food to eat. They’ll [also] have a pet."
What do you think it would be like to have a goat?
"It would be cool, because you’d have an animal to take care of. I would like to have a goat, too. "
How do you think the goat gets to the people who need it?
"They have the goat in Africa. We give them money and then they buy it from one of the shops there. Then they walk it back home."

Seven-year-old Kanuya Coulibaly lives in Mali, Africa. Two years ago her family received a goat through World Vision’s Gift Catalogue.
How does your family use the goat?
"My brother milks the goat when we are in the field during the day...Goat’s milk does taste good."
What do you like about goats?
"I love to give them food. I like bigger goats more than smaller goats. The goats are so excited in the morning to go to the field. They run and I have to chase them."
How do you think Canadians sent this gift of a goat to you?
"They put a cord around the goat’s neck and brought it here. It came from Canada on a bus."
