Nearly 10 million children under 5 die needlessly each year
Thousands of children around the globe are severely malnourished and the rising food prices are only increasing the problem. These children are less able to fight off common childhood illness and are 20 times more likely to die than children that have access to a nutritious diet.
In fact, more than 9.7 million children under the age of five die each year — 18 of them
every minute of every day.

Four-year-old Pauline lives in the Democratic Republic of Congo, a country torn by war. Despair and hunger surround her. She is frail and small due to malnutrition. Her mother, Mary, poured out her heart to us, saying, “My children are not eating well and are not in good health. They are very weak. When my children fall sick, I can’t afford a doctor. I don’t have the possibility to buy proper medicine. It makes me fear a lot and it pains me.”
