World Vision President Dave Toycen departed for Southeast Asia on Thursday December 30, 2004.  He has visited the devastated areas in India and Sri Lanka and will be heading to Indonesia and Thailand before returning in early January.  Check this page for reflections from Dave or that of World Vision photgrapher Phil Maher about the trip.

Sri Lanka
It was an interesting event. World Vision Canada president Dave Toycen asks each person their name while distributing to them a sleeping mat and a pillow. Each person in turn genuinely seemed to enjoy the contact with the foreigner and replied, in clear English "thank you, thank you very much" They seemed to be thanking more than just Dave. I had a sense that they really appreciated the fact that we represented the first wave of help.
