World Vision responds in Indonesia
World Vision's Indonesia Tsunami Response Team is based in Banda Aceh. Satellite offices have been opened in Lamno and Meulaboh. World Vision assisted more than 10,000 families during the emergency phase of its response.

To date, World Vision's rehabilitation work includes:

  • Nine child-friendly spaces , which serve about 1,000 children. Another 30 tents will be erected in the coming weeks.
  • Four temporary accommodation centres that provide shelter for 8,000 people.
  • 2,000 tents for internally displaced people. More than 2,000 prefabricated houses are on order to replace tents.
  • One health clinic established in Banda Aceh that serves a camp of 500 displaced people.
  • Three ambulances donated to a Banda Aceh hospital. Five more ambulances will be delivered in February.
  • Cash-for-work programs to promote community clean up.
