World Vision sponsors have helped dramatically change the lives of Bani Valley’s people. Safe water is now available close to home, and children and their families in this Mali community are healthier because of it.

Sponsors’ support helped build boreholes and pumps in six communities — and to ensure proper management of water resources in the long term, people have also been trained to maintain and repair pumps. Improvements to wells and 30 new pumps have made it easier to collect water, and 300 new latrines have improved sanitation. Water committees are teaching the importance of proper hygiene to reduce water-related illnesses.

When children are no longer vulnerable to waterborne diseases, they stay healthy, are able to concentrate on their studies, and can enjoy the things that children should do, such as playing with friends.
