Through the summer, Canadians stay close to their children in lakes, swimming pools—even shallow wading pools. Who knows what can happen in just a few feet of water?
Children affected by floods in Pakistan do. Especially when that water is fast-moving, contaminated and taking over their homes and villages.
Have a look at this gallery of images, with captions from a child’s perspective. It’s the way World Vision constantly strives to see things, as we work to serve children in need.

Flood waters in Pakistan are deep by adult standards…

…now imagine it from a child’s perspective.

"Deep" water has a whole new meaning when that water is up to your chest.

Fast-moving currents can sweep children away, especially those who are malnourished and weak.

Children are smaller than adults, and closer to the water. This means their bodies are wet for days on end.

Children are constantly exposed to water-borne illness like cholera. Even play happens in water.

Thousands of children in Pakistan lost their homes in the floods. Everything familiar was washed away. They’re constantly exposed to the elements.

Even on dry land, life is confusing and frightening. Many children lost loved ones to the disaster. Many families have nowhere to go.

Children often end up caring for younger children.

In the midst of this turmoil, World Vision is working hard to keep children safe and healthy.

World Vision health clinics allow staff to provide medical care.

World Vision is providing emergency aid to families, and plans to assist 40,000 households across the country.
