Springtime donations blossomed to help tens of thousands.
I have some tremendous news to share. Thanks to the generosity of sponsors like you, we were able to bring emergency relief to thousands of children and families living in dire circumstances.
The support we received last spring allowed us to make an enormous difference:
In Uganda, we trained hundreds of volunteers for Community Care Coalitions. World Vision provided Coalition volunteers with resources and transportation to help care for and protect over 5,000 orphans, vulnerable children and chronically ill family members.
In Swaziland, we helped to reach out to more than 13,000 orphans and vulnerable children, and to support those with the greatest need. More than 900 families at risk received essential food and household supplies. More than 850 orphans and vulnerable children received the funds they needed to continue with school.
In India, we provided workers in low-skilled and unskilled occupations with training and supplies to improve their income and prospects. We also helped workers form associations to improve training and ensure adequate compensation.
The donations we received tripled in value, thanks to contributions from the Canadian Government and World Food Programme. As a result, we were able to provide essential food, medical supplies and support to tens of thousands of impoverished children.
More than 71,700 sponsors also sent their sponsored child a special springtime gift – a pendant to wear, plus one to share. This wonderful gift doubled the joy, to light up the faces of 143,400 children.
Thank you for helping World Vision continue to help children and families living in dire circumstances. And thank you for bringing a smile to the face of a child who knows that someone cares.
God bless you,
Dave Toycen
