"We have a lot to be thankful for. We struggled for years to get to this position where the real estate market is now taking good care of us. We recently realized it was time to make a much larger contribution," Beakhouse says.

Knowing about World Vision for years, the upstart home renovation and resell business owners remember being unsure that World Vision was the right organization to support.

"I went to visit a good friend who was on the support crew for a Jann Arden concert," Beakhouse says.

"Her band played an old song by the Psychedelic Furs that I also used to sing. It has a beautiful, simple chorus: "Heaven, is the whole of our hearts." I was overwhelmed by the simplicity of that line, and a flood of memories came back from a time when I was filled with idealism but didn't have a penny to my name."

Today, HomeRight Properties has purchased more than 140 properties, providing solutions to homeowners who need to sell quickly and rehabilitation to homes that are often neglected or poorly maintained. The company also owns and manages a growing portfolio of rental properties.

Back at the concert, Beakhouse remembers Jann Arden's moving speech about her support for World Vision.

"I was already nearly in tears from the song, and this put me over the edge. I took this as a sign that World Vision sponsorship was the right move for us."

HomeRight Properties has recently sponsored 10 children and plans to sponsor a total of 30 this year.

"We now have a wall in our office with a picture of each rental house we own, and soon there will be a picture of a sponsored child beside each home," Beakhouse remarks.

"Our company aspires to promote conscious living and to be a positive influence for our staff. Our World Vision sponsorship is something we are all proud of."
