Veronica is one of many children in El Salvador’s Tacuba community to benefit from a proper education. When she was 5, Veronica became a sponsored child and has since flourished as a role model for young people. She recently won second prize in El Salvador’s National Speech for Women Contest.
“Thanks to my mother, World Vision [and] especially the families who have sponsored from Canada, I’ve been able to fulfill my studies from elementary all the way to high school,” Veronica says. “Now I am pursuing a university career.”
Veronica’s success is being repeated all over Tacuba as more and more children grow up having enjoyed the benefits of sponsorship. Today, teachers are properly trained. There are new classrooms, rooms for extra-curricular activities, and better sports fields and playgrounds. In fact, 98% of children now complete Grade 6 and many go on to finish high school. New computer centres offer access to information technology, while vocational training helps prepare young people for the future.
“I want to thank God for the blessing we’ve received through the different families in Canada,” Veronica adds. “I am a faithful testimony of this change, as well as my brothers and many other families. God bless you all.”
