Children Receive Free Dental Care in Costa Rica
World Vision, in partnership with a private hospital, is bringing free dental work to children in Costa Rica.
Fifty children received check-ups, fillings, and tooth extractions from dentists who visited their communities (Los Ledesma, El Delirio, Fatima, and Villanueva) in February.
The closest public health centre is 15 kilometres away making it difficult to get to since most families can only travel by horse, bicycle, or foot.
Some children had never seen a dentist before. “There are many children having problems with their teeth because of malnutrition. They eat too much candy,” says Juan Agustín Contreras who lives in Villanueva.
World Vision Costa Rica has coordinated dental campaigns like this one in the past and will continue to do so in the future. This campaign enables children in Costa Rica to have healthy teeth and beautiful smiles.
