10 Things World Vision is Doing in Pakistan
World Vision is already providing emergency aid in Pakistan, a country facing the worst flooding seen in living memory.
A staggering 20 million people are in need of assistance, including 3.5 million children. Over the next three months, World Vision will be mobilizing resources to help the hardest hit regions of Peshawar, Charsadda, Nowshera and Lower Dir.
10 Emergency Relief Activities
World Vision has staff on the ground in Pakistan who have already set up several activities.

World Vision has delivered food and water to more than 30,000 people living in school buildings and on what’s left of the main roads in the Charsadda and Nowshera districts. Our current plan is to provide aid approximately 300,000 people over the next three to six months in Khyber Pakhtoonkhwa Province (KPK), Sindh and Punjab.

World Vision is also providing basic health care at five clinics in Lower Dir, where more than 4,100 patients, including 1,845 children, have been treated for illnesses related to the flooding.

As floodwaters recede and more communities become accessible, World Vision has plans to expand its efforts to include the following initiatives.

Distributing water-purification packets and hygiene kits to 150,000 people.

Providing tents to 22,500 people.

Giving out cooking supplies to 75,000 individuals.
|

Distributing food to at least 37,500 people.

Setting up cash-for-work initiatives for 1,000 people.

Establishing 20 health posts and 40 mobile clinics.

Setting up 20 child-friendly spaces—safe environments where children can play and receive psychological support.

Establishing 20 women-friendly spaces—areas where women received health education, vocational information and are given opportunities to socialize with other women.

A History in Pakistan
World Vision has been working in Pakistan since 1992. The organization provided extensive assistance to people in North West Frontier Province immediately after the 2005 earthquake, giving it valuable experience of emergency response at the grassroots levels.
